MadeiraBooks.com is an independent project with one goal: to catalogue every worthwhile book about the Portuguese island of Madeira — and make each one easy to find and buy. Whether you are planning to walk the levadas, falling down the rabbit hole of 500-year-old fortified wine, tracing the island’s history of discovery and emigration, or simply looking for a good novel set among its cliffs and laurel forests, there is a book here for you.
What’s included
We currently list 191 books across 10 categories, from practical travel and hiking guides to botany, ornithology, scholarly history, photography and fiction. Every title in the catalogue is real and currently available on Amazon. We keep the canonical (latest) edition of each work to avoid clutter, and we don’t pad the list with books that only mention Madeira in passing.
How we choose and verify
Each entry is researched and cross-checked against Amazon, Goodreads and publisher listings for its title, author, edition and availability. Buy links search Amazon by the book’s ISBN so they resolve to the right edition in your local Amazon store. If you spot an error, a missing book, or a title that has gone out of print, we’d love to hear about it.
