MadeiraBooks.com is an independent project with one goal: to catalogue every worthwhile book about the Portuguese island of Madeira — and make each one easy to find and buy. Whether you are planning to walk the levadas, falling down the rabbit hole of 500-year-old fortified wine, tracing the island’s history of discovery and emigration, or simply looking for a good novel set among its cliffs and laurel forests, there is a book here for you.
What’s included
We currently list 195 books across 10 categories, from practical travel and hiking guides to botany, ornithology, scholarly history, photography and fiction. The collection includes practical guides, specialist references and older works. Availability varies by edition, seller and country; some titles may be out of print.
How we choose and verify
Entries include the title, author, language and edition information to help you compare books. Reading lists group titles by their subject and usefulness for different interests. They are editorial suggestions, not customer ratings or claims that we have personally tested every book. Where an ISBN is listed, our Amazon links search for that edition; otherwise they use a product reference or title search. Please check the language, format and edition on Amazon before ordering.
