Privacy & analytics choices
Last updated:
Madeira Books is an independent book catalogue based in the United States. This notice explains the services used when you browse MadeiraBooks.com and the choices available in your browser. You do not need an account to browse, search or follow a book link. Purchases take place on the bookseller’s website; we do not collect your payment or delivery details here.
For privacy questions or requests concerning your personal information, contact Madeira Books at madeiras.best@gmail.com.
Contacting us
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include so that we can respond to your message. Our contact mailbox uses Google’s Gmail service; Google’s privacy policy explains how Google processes information through its services. Please do not send payment details, passwords or identity documents in an initial enquiry.
Your Google Analytics choice
Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager load only after you choose “Allow Google Analytics”. You can reject them and continue using the catalogue and buying links. You can change or withdraw your choice using “Google Analytics choices” in the footer of any page.
With your permission, Google Analytics helps us understand visits and interactions such as outgoing link clicks. Information sent to Google can include page addresses, referring pages, browser and device information, approximate location and cookie identifiers. Page addresses can include catalogue search and filter terms. Google processes this information to provide analytics reports. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s privacy policy, including its information about storage, international processing and your rights.
We save your analytics choice and its date in this browser’s local storage and treat the choice as valid for 180 days. This preference is used to remember your decision. If the browser cannot save it, Google Analytics stays off. Clearing website data removes the saved choice. A choice applies to this browser; make it separately on other browsers or devices. If saving a changed choice fails, we also try to remember an opt-out in session storage for the current tab so that an earlier acceptance does not take effect again.
Withdrawing consent disables Google Analytics. When we can preserve your choice safely,
we also reload the current page to stop its running scripts. We remove the Google Analytics cookies
accessible to this site, including _ga, _ga_*, _gid and
_gat*. Withdrawal does not undo information already sent to Google. You can also
delete website cookies in your browser or use
Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Delivering and measuring the website
The site is hosted through Hetzner and delivered through Cloudflare, which also serves book images. Requests to these services include technical information such as your IP address, requested address and browser information so that they can deliver and protect the site. Fonts are requested from Google Fonts, which receives the information needed to respond to those requests. These delivery requests are separate from Google Analytics.
Cloudflare also provides a separate performance-measurement service. Its browser beacon measures information such as page addresses, referring pages and loading performance. Cloudflare describes this service as using no cookies or browser storage and discarding the request’s IP address at its nearest data centre. The Google Analytics choice above does not control this separate service. Read Cloudflare’s explanation of its performance beacon, Cloudflare’s privacy policy, Hetzner’s privacy policy and Google Fonts’ privacy information.
Amazon and other external links
Amazon buying links include our Associate tracking ID. When you choose to follow one, your browser connects to Amazon, which may use cookies and other technologies under its own privacy notice. The tracking ID allows Amazon to attribute qualifying purchases and provide affiliate reports to us. Our site does not set an Amazon cookie merely by displaying a buying link. See our affiliate disclosure for how we earn commissions.
Publisher, library and other external links take you to sites with their own privacy practices. Your browser may send the destination information about the referring site when you follow a link. Review the destination’s notice before providing personal information there.
