Choosing this book

Who this edition suits

Best for: A reader who likes a historical puzzle with documents and family secrets.

A historian’s investigation begins at a Madeira villa and reaches back into British political history. The island is the gateway to the mystery.

Consider: The plot moves beyond Madeira; it is not an island travelogue.
